The sponge iron powder contains about 18~70ppm of trace nitrogen, in which the nitrogen dissolved in iron (presented by the nitrogen compounds of iron) accounts for the vast majority, the insoluble nitrogen less than 5ppm nitrogen content has a greater impact on the compressibility of iron powder than the carbon content.
For example, when nitrogen content is in the range of 100~ L000ppm, each reduction of L0ppm can increase the density of iron powder compact by 0.005g/cm3, but for the same carbon content, the corresponding change can only increase the density of compact by 0.00lg/cm3;When the nitrogen content is in the range of 30~60ppm, the influence is even more serious, each decrease of 10ppm can increase the compact density by about 0.05g/cm3, but for the same carbon content, the corresponding change makes the compact density increase is still about 0.00lg/cm3. Therefore, it is of great significance to reduce the trace nitrogen content in iron powder to improve the compressibility technology of iron powder.
